[Updated in July 22th: New gifs and explanations added due to some gameplay changes after several updates]
Hey guys! It’s Gabrielle here, happier than ever! Early access is soooo close, I can’t wait for it! The last four months were absolutely crazy, Ivan and I worked so much to make all features fully functional that it was impossible for us to not get emotional when we saw our game on the Steam Store <3 But let’s talk about the real matters:
How can I get Anthropomachy?
On Steam, here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1018270/
And you can read more about it (and get some goodies π )here: http://toyboxlab.com/anthropomachy
How to play Anthropomachy?
What about a mini-tutorial with some gifs to help you understand the gameplay? Let’s go!
1) Choose your God
In the Early Access, we have 4 Major Gods: Athena, Hades, Hermes, Persephone. Who do you wanna be first?
2) Send Preachers
Unlock a nation by sending a preacher there. But don’t send them ramdomly without some analysis on the world and your own current situation. With the amount of faith you have now, which abilities can you purchase? What and how are the attributes impacted by them? Search for nations that have these attributes in a bad or good situation (it’s showed on the top bar, in red and green icons) and send your preachers to these lands!
There’s another way of acquiring a new preacher without spending faith: when you convert a nation, you gain a preacher that is ramdomly
sent to a a neighboring country of the newly converted nation .
3) Use divine abilities
Clicking on the the Vergina’s Sun in the God panel is the first thing you should do – so you can open the ability tree and better know yourself as a God and analyze which abilities can you buy.
After sending your preachers, purchase your first ability to use on the nations they were sent. No secrets here: click on the icon’s ability and click on the land! You can watch the conversion growing on the top bar and your amount of faith (Anthropomachy’s currency) increasing under the abilities tree icon.
A thing that you should notice is that you have abilities that will impact attributes negatively (curses) and others that will impact positively (blessings). The ability text and attribute icons color will make it clear for you. And please pay attention: abilities have a usage cost!
4) Get mad at failures
You’re really powerful my dear, but it doesn’t mean you’re failure proof. Sometimes your abilities won’t be enough to make people believe in you. Read the message, click ‘ok’ and move on. But hey: There’s a way to make it happen less often: Send more preachers to avoid failures! And you still get an extra 5% bonus on conversion and faith gain for each preacher on that nation!
5) Earn more with bonuses
As you saw before, each extra preacher gives you some extra gains. And there are two more ways of getting bonuses:
a) Evolve traits – If you evolve a certain trait of your God, all abilities connected to it will gain an extra impact when used in any nation on Earth!
b) Watch for your honor – That’s my favorite bonus! You certainly noticed that vertical status bar on the bottom panel, right? It’s your honor! The more blessings you use, more greener the bar will become (and more benevolent your reputation) and of course it will reflect to you as bonuses when using…. Curses! And the more curses used, more red it will become and more bonuses will you get when using blessings! That’s right! Be truly evil and gain bonus when using benevolent abilities. Be an altruistic angel and get bounty by acting malevolent. Why is that? Think with me: If you’re a sweet angel, everybody expects you to act generously, right? Imagine the surprise when you unleash your wrath! And it makes for a more fun and interesting gameplay! π
6) Pay attention on news happening all around the world
If you want to conquer Earth, you have to know it better than anyone else. That’s why you have the news bar on the bottom of your screen! Pay attention specially on the red ones: they do great changes to nation’s attributes and you might want to take advantage when it happens.
7) Skepticism Events
Every now and then an event window will popup giving you 2 choices of course of action that you may take. (In certain special situations, a third option may appear depending on your previous decisions and overall strategy up to that point so keep an eye out for these opportunities!) If you happen to make the correct choice you’ll gain something: a bonus for one of your traits, more Faith, extra preachers, maybe even an honor boost… or make a mistake and see people’s skepticism of your existence increase.
8) Empower a divine ally
Every nation has got 9 attributes that might be impacted, but your abilities can impact just seven of them. Letβs suppose you’re Hermes and you really need to impact the happiness attribute of a nation in a positive way, which you’re unable to do by yourself. Hebe has an ability that makes people happy! Empower her immediately! But be wise: you can pick just one Deity to be your ally!
9) Play again with another deity
It’s all up to you now, my dear Deity! But if it doesn’t work in the first time, Anthropomachy allows you to try again as another divinity. And even if it does, you have more 3 Gods to assume and make Earth all yours again, each one of them offering you 20 different abilities and new scenarios. Try it out!
Don’t forget to add Anthropomachy to your wishlist and to give us feed–back on the gameplay! That’s how we’re going to deliver the best version of it in the official launch!
See you soon! π
